  Edward J. Funk Passes Away

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the death of former Managing Director Edward J. Funk, age 79, of Oakdale, Connecticut. Prior to assuming the Managing Director’s role at the Hundred Club, Ed served the Connecticut State Police with distinction from 1956 until 1979 in a variety of assignments, including Commissioner Leo Mulcahy’s Aide; in the Criminal Intelligence and Detective Divisions; as a sergeant at Internal Affairs and at Troop E; and as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Edward Leonard. After retirement from the department, Sgt. Funk continued his involvement with Connecticut’s law enforcement community through his 15 years with the Hundred Club.

A wake will he held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, CT. A funeral service, with full Connecticut State Police honors, will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church – The Redeemer, 31 Cedar Grove Ave., New London, CT. with burial immediately following at the nearby Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Anthony Ustjanauskas came to America in 1950 and settled in Hartford, Connecticut. "Mr.A", as he was known, and his wife Ada owned and operated International Supermarkets on Park Street and Franklin Avenue.
